Here are my Top 10 movies of 2008  (These are only movies I actually watched.  There were others I wanted to watch but never got around to it.

10.  Indiana Jones KOTCS —    This movie was very entertaining, however far if fell from expectations and storyline of the old Indiana movies.  I think this was just a huge wake-up call that there are no more Nazi’s or crazy ass jungle cults to fight anymore in the world.  Indiana needs to retire and hang up his hat.

9.  Vantage Point — Call me crazy but I really liked this movie.  I appreciated the way the story was told from different “vantage points”.  I also liked how it was shot and edited to show the storylines you just watched in the background of the current one.  I don’t think I saw a mistake in that aspect which I believe is hard to do if you are shooting multiple takes, multiple storylines, with many different actors and extras.  The story kinda fizzled towards the end and that was a big disappointment.  And after seeing the same scenes about 4-5 times it got kinda redundant.  It was a great concept but I felt it was poorly executed.

8.  Tropic Thunder –  I didn’t know if I was going to like this pairing of comedic performers.  Boy was I wrong.  I really enjoyed this film and how it made fun of the movie industry.  And if you ever thought Tom Cruise was done, watch this movie and tell me the man knows how to make fun of not only himself, but others extremely well.  Never would I have thought he would do such a role.

7.  Eagle Eye — Yes another film by the Transformer kid. :P   Shia LeBeouf and Michelle Monoghan star in this movie about total control of everything electronic everywhere.  Cellphones, power grids, cars with GPS uplink, you name it.  This movie although a bit too far fetched for now, is closely becoming a reality with our ever connected world.  I did like all the technology and that’s probably why it’s on my list and even at number seven.

6.  Wall-E —   Leave it to Pixar to come up with an entirely animated movie showing us the pitfalls of not recycling.  haha  I really liked the storyline of the movie and it was entertaining.  I don’t think this was Pixar’s best film they have done but nevertheless it is a good one.  I could have done without the robots trying to speak to each other like humans with human voices.  I mean seriously, if we did have a robot that was a fancy trashman, would we make it able to talk to us?  Besides we all know computers talk like this:  1010001110101  10100010010111001

5.  Hancock — There have been few Will Smith films that I haven’t enjoyed.  This is one that I liked because it was a good spin on the superhero story.  I liked how they told it from the perspective of a guy everyone hates but can’t really do anything about.  Jason Bateman did a great job as a supporting actor.  I could have done without the spoiler mid way through the movie.  You know the part where you find out about Charlize Theron’s character and then she starts talking about how all the “others” were killed off because they were together.  Damnit for them spoiling it all.  I knew exactly how the movie was going to end after that point.  If not for that fact it would have probably been higher on the list.

4.  Kung-Fu Panda — “Skadoosh”, I really liked this movie.  It was my favorite animated movie of the year.  Jack Black added an element of comedy I don’t think anyone else could have for that character.  I also liked the storyline and message it sent to young and old that the secrets to greatness lie within each of us.  Plus it’s a good excuse to play karate with the son. :P

3.  The Incredible Hulk –  I’m glad they recast this movie to prep for The Avengers movie.  They also did a much better job with the CG scenes.  I really enjoyed the way they introduced the nemesis characters in this film as well.  And the fact that they incorporated my #2 at the end of it.

2.  Iron Man — What a kick ass, action packed movie.  It seemed like this movie never stopped and boy did Robert Downey Jr. surprise me with his performance.  I mean this was his first film of 2008 and I thought after the sub-par performance in Zodiac that he wasn’t coming back.  They did a pretty good job with the casting of this movie for the exception of Terrence Howard as Rodney.

And the moment you’ve been waiting for (yes I stole your tagline Cam :P )

1.  Sex and The City  — I just couldn’t get enough of when that one girl was typing on her keyboard and then….

SIKE! ! !

1.  The Dark Knight — Never did I think anyone would top Jack Nicholsons performance as the Joker in the original Batman Movie.  I was proven way wrong by Mr. Heath Leger (R.I.P.).  His performance was absolutely amazing and was perfectly portrayed as a madman bent on anarchy and proving that people are weak when things don’t go “according to plan”.  My favorite scenes are in the end of the movie.  The parts where everyone is evacuating and the Joker plays a sick twisted social experiment on the passengers of the two ferrys. Some of the action sequences were a little much (especially the one where Batman seems to be an expert in maneuvering his bike) however, I feel this was absolutely the best movie of 2008.

I can’t believe you didn’t even put Bella on the list. Madagascar 2 rocked! How about We Own the Night? Ohh, or Crank?
Yah, my list blows your list away.
Too bad it’s stored in my head – where all good things stay.
